Young Award Winner Chooses local firm Stafford & Co

Local man David Stretton recently won the Student of the Year Award from the Bolton Society of Chartered Accountants (BSCA) and after receiving his award has no sooner secured a position at local innovative practice Stafford & Co.

David had to prove to Bolton University that he was worthy of a place within their accountancy programme, and from the start attained grades beyond the expected level. The award given by the Bolton branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England & Wales (ICAEW) is based on assessing applications and interviewing nominees to identify the “individual most likely to succeed”.

The local award winner has now joined Bolton based Stafford & Co accountancy practice lead by past BSCA President, Rob Stafford. Rob commented “There are lots of accountancy graduates each year, finding those with good commercial acumen and the ability to forge great client relationships is the difficulty. We’re delighted David has chosen to join us and continue his professional development as part of our growing & dynamic team.”

David added: “I’m thrilled with the award and most importantly that lots of fellow professionals with a wealth of experience see my potential. I’ve worked hard and really enjoyed my studies at Bolton University. Attaining a good degree was the first challenge my new role with the Stafford & Co team is a great place to begin my career I couldn’t have hoped for more and the people I have met at the BSCA have been great. I hope in 10 years’ time that I will be able to say I am an influential accountancy professional representing some of the largest organisations across the region.”
